Abstract PURPOSE: To provide a magnetic head cleaning method for magnetic tape apparatus or magnetic tape controlling apparatus, in which its cleaner controlling circuit is actuated on the cleaning command given by programme or upper unit, so that cleaning of the head or medium is positively carried out when reading error is aroused.
