Vehicle-to-vehicle distance measuring device and method

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To detect the abnormality of data of equipment for measuring a distance between vehicles and to correct an error in the data on the measured distance between vehicles. CONSTITUTION: Information on the presence or absence of vehicles and information on the data on a distance between the vehicles which are measured by equipment 5 for measuring a distance between vehicles which is provided along a road are communicated to the vehicles by equipment 7 for communication between the road and the vehicles. With these data used as a reference, a diagnosis as to the existence or nonexistence of abnormality of equipment 3 for measuring a distance between vehicles which is mounted on the vehicles and correction of an error in the measured data are executed.
