Abstract

(57) [Abstract] [Purpose] To reduce the overall height of the LED print head to achieve miniaturization, to secure high optical characteristics that are not affected by the optical characteristics of the lens system, and to further reduce costs. An LED in which an LED array chip 7 and a driving IC 8 are mounted on a substrate 2 and light emitted from a light emitting portion 7a of the LED array chip 7 is applied to a photoconductor 11 through a predetermined optical path. In the print head 1, a protective layer 3 made of a non-translucent resin or the like having a predetermined thickness is formed on the substrate 2 so as to cover the surface of the LED array chip 7, and the LED array is formed on the protective layer 3. A through hole 4 is formed as an optical path from each light emitting portion 7a of the chip 7 to the peripheral surface of the photoconductor 11. Then, the through hole 4 The inner hole space is sealed with an auxiliary protective layer 9 made of a transparent resin or the like.
