Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To enhance display grade in a color display on a liquid crystal display device using a ferroelectric liquid crystal. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with a liquid crystal display panel 2, a liquid crystal driving means 3 driving the liquid crystal panel 2, a light irradiation means 4 irradiating a red color beam, a green color beam and a blue color beam from the rear of the liquid crystal display panel 2 synchronizing with driving timing by the liquid crystal driving means 3 and a light selection control means 5 selecting a color of an irradiation beam irradiated from a light irradiation means 4 and controlling an irradiation time, and the light selection control means 5 is constituted so that any one beam among the red color beam, the green color beam and the blue color beam is irradiated in timely synchronizing with plural times of write signals after a fixed time elapses from the output timing of the write signal outputted at every prescribed timing to the liquid crystal display panel 2 by the liquid crystal driving means 3.
