Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To improve a contrast and to obtain a bright display by forming polymer dispersion type liquid crystal layers on respective picture element electrodes and packing satd. hydrocarbons colored to black into the spacings between the adjacent polymer dispersion type liquid crystal layers. CONSTITUTION:The picture element electrodes 4 and signal electrodes 5 are disposed on a 1st substrate 1. The picture element electrodes 4 and the signal electrodes 5 are disposed to have spacings from each other. Both are electrically connected by varistors 6. The scanning electrodes 3 are disposed on a 2nd substrate 2 so as to face the picture element electrodes 4. The polymer dispersion type liquid crystal layers 10 are disposed and crimped to correspond the picture element electrodes 4 between the 1st substrate 1 and the 2nd substrate 2. The satd. hydrocarbons 11 colored black are packed into the spacings between the respective polymer dispersion type liquid crystal layers 10. Since light leakage is eliminated in this way, the contrast is improved and the bright display is obtd.
