Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To suppress the increase of energy consumption and the increase of an inside temperature with a seek operation with high accuracy by stopping the seek operation when time for the seek operation of a head exceeds a threshold value. CONSTITUTION:According to a seek command signal from a controller 2, a linear motor 1 is driven through a linear motor driver 3. On the other hand, this seek command signal is inputted to a time counter 4, and the time for the seek operation is accumulated and counted. The count value of the time counter 4 is outputted to the controller 2 and when the time for the seek operation exceeds the set threshold value, it is latched by a latch 5 so as to transmit a count over output to the controller 2. Then, according to this count over output, the output of the seek command signal is weld in standby for a prescribed time by a seek standby means of the controller 2. Thus, the increase of energy consumption is prevented and the increase of the inside temperature is suppressed.
