Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To easily confirm the accurate operating setting mode for a equipment main body by providing a means receiving an operating mode signal sent from the device main body and displaying the operating mode of the equipment main body to the remote controller of remote control system. CONSTITUTION:When the operator operates an operation button 5, a television receiver 2 uses a control section 13 to control the operation setting mode. Simultaneously, the control section 13 sends a signal representing the operating mode of the television receiver 13 such as a signal representing a sound volume level or a position of a channel to a transmission circuit 18. A light emitting diode 14 of the transmission circuit 18 is lighted by this signal and an optical signal is sent to a photodetector 21 of a remote controller 1 through a transmission window 9. The photodetector 21 converts the optical signal into an electric signal, it is outputted to a reception circuit 22 and the operating mode of the television receiver 2 is displayed on a display section 16 comprising a liquid crystal cell or an LED.
