Magnetoresistance element and manufacture thereof

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To provide high reliability and stability of magnetic properties of a magnetoresistance element by so composing as not to form the cut surface of a magnetic layer in a resistance value trimming slit when the slit is provided. CONSTITUTION:A conductive layer 23 is formed of a banded part 23a formed in a banded state inclined at about 45 degrees on a magnetic layer 22, a part 23d extended to a region not formed with the layer 22 from one end of the part 23a to form a trimming pattern 24d, a part 23b extended from the trimming pattern forming part to form a connecting terminal 24b, and a part 23c extended from the other end of the part 23a to form a connecting part 24c. A magnetoresistance element 21 has external connecting terminal 24b (the conductive layer part 23b) or 24c (the conductive layer part 23c) exposed in through holes 5a, 5b formed at a protective layer 5, a slit 12 for cutting part of a trimming pattern 24 is formed through the layer 5, and since the pattern 24d is formed only of the layer 23 in the element 21, the slit 21 does not cut the layer 22.
