Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To improve the workability and easiness of numerical table work by automatically setting position data corresponding to the input area of variable character data which is laid out. CONSTITUTION:Layout data of a table is inputted from a keyboard 16 at a numerical table mode and the layout of the table is generated on the display screen of a CRT display 17. Thus, a space or a space string sandwiched by ruled lines or the space or the space string sandwiched by the ruled line and the colon '.' of a special mark is automatically detected as the input area of variable character data. Variable character data written into the input area is controlled in correspondence with position data of the input area concerned. Consequently, an operator does not need to check position data as against the input area of variable character data and to input a key, and the workability and easiness of numerical table work considerably improve.
