Picture input device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To improve the operability, to attain low cost, to make the size small and to attain the high speed of a picture read time by realizing the picture input device able to handle a picture signal in a different format, that is, both a high resolution sill picture and a moving picture with one equipment. CONSTITUTION:A same solid-state image pickup element is in use to output a picture signal in a different format. In details, a switch group 14 selecting a clock is provided in the inside of the image pickup element and in the high definition still picture mode, the resolution of the image pickup element is used at a maximum to read a signal by reading the signal of each picture element 1 without mixing. In the moving picture mode, the signals in the picture element 11 are mixed in the inside of a transfer CCD 12 over several picture elements. Mixing is implemented similarly in the horizontal CCD 13 as to a horizontal direction. Thus, the signal in a format coincident with the required television signal is generated.
