Picture data converter

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To make the circuit scale small without much reduction in the conversion accuracy by using curve formed through connection of M-order curves so as to obtain the component. CONSTITUTION:A picture data of each picture element is fed sequentially to an input port 1 of a picture data transmitter and a block processing circuit 2 implements block processing to N each of input data (N is an integer being 2 or over). A linear approximation discrete cosine transformation(DCT) arithmetic circuit 3 uses a curve formed by connection of j-sets of M-order curves (M is an integer being 1 or over) and causing j-number of times as j-order component from 0-th order component till (N-1)-th order and implements transformation in the order of blocks to obtain coefficients of j-order component. Through the constitution above, since no irrational number is included to elements of a transformation matrix, the word length of the arithmetic circuit is decreased and the arithmetic circuit is simplified and the circuit scale is reduced without deteriorating the conversion accuracy.
