Four-wheel drive automobile
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To enable stable driving by releasing a driving force distribution control means from differential locking operation when detected speed is over a preset value to distribute output torque into front wheels and rear wheels through a differential gear. CONSTITUTION:The output of an engine 2 is transmitted to a planetary gear type differential gear 12 to distribute engine torque into front wheels and rear wheels via an automatic transmission. The differential gear 12 controls torque transmitted to the front wheels and the rear wheels by controlling a hydraulic multiplate clutch 28 as a driving force distribution control means from a completely free condition to a locking condition as necessary. In this case, wheel speed sensors 42, 40, 44, 46 as speed detecting means are attached to respective wheels to input these output signals to a controller 48. During running faster than preset speed, the operation of the multiplate clutch 28 is stopped and put into a center differential free condition to increase torque distributed to the rear wheels.
