Projection type liquid crystal display device
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To realize a large screen with a small thin structure and high picture quality by devising the optical layout to correct color irregularities, providing an intensity correcting panel, and using an active matrix type liquid crystal panel with a cooling function. CONSTITUTION:The white light of a white lamp 4101 is separated into three primary colors by dichroic mirrors 4008, 4009, 4010 and guided to liquid crystal panels 4002, 4003, 4004 via mirrors 4011, 4012. Lengths of optical axis paths (optical path lengths) from the lamp 4101 to the liquid crystal panels 4002, 4003, 4004 are made equal. A position adjusting function is applied to the dichroic mirrors 4010, 4008 or a mirror 4100, and the optical axis is displaced from the screen center of panels 4002, 4004. The aspect ratio of the liquid crystal panels is set to 16:9, and the active matrix type is used. Cooling layers 4102, 4103, 4104 are provided on the incidence light side of the liquid crystal panels 4002, 4003, 4004, and the second black matrixes are provided on glass face sections faced to the cooling layers 4102, 4103, 4104. Intensity correcting panels 4112, 4113, 4114 are provided on the incidence light side of the cooling layers 4102, 4103, 4104 to correct intensity irregularities.
