Method and device for measuring cytochrome oxidase
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To provide measurability with no confinement on the selected wave- length by using a light in the near infrared region, in which change in the photo-absorptiveness associate with oxygenation/deoxygenation of hemoglobin and change in the photo-absorptiveness associate with varying oxidation/ reduction condition of cytochrome oxidase occur simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:In a measuring system 24, the light having two different groups of wave-lengths in the near infrared range is projected to a vital body structure, and change in the photo-absorptiveness is measured in each wave-length. A CPU 6 calculates variation in the hemoglobin quantity on the assumption that change in the photo-absorptiveness are all dependent upon oxygenation/ deoxygenation of the hemoglobin for every group of wave-lengths. The varying amount of cytochrome oxidase is measured from the difference in calculation values of hemoglobin quantity change between the two groups of wave-lengths. Thus the oxidation/reduction condition of cytochrome oxidase is determined, and the measurement on the cytochrome oxidase having less change in photo- absorptiveness than hemoglobin can be performed without attack or erosion, wherein no confinement is given from the selection of light source wave-length.
