Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To provide a highly integrated optical module reduced in size in terms of its high integration by associating boards such as a photoelectric integrated circuit board or an optically integrated circuit board, an optical waveguide board and an electric circuit board. CONSTITUTION:Three sad photoelectric integrated circuit boards or optically integrated circuit boards 1 are spaced at suitable interval, optical waveguide board 2 is installed at the lower end of the photoelectric or optically integrated boards 1 to be optically connected, and an electric circuit board 3 is mounted at the upper end side of the boards 1 to be electrically connected. The boards 1 are formed of various semiconductor material or dielectric waveguide material. Its optical functions include, for example, light emission, reception, modulating, switching, storing, amplifying, etc., and its electric functions include, for example, amplifying, modifying, switching, etc. As the function of the dielectric waveguide material, optical switching, optically multiple wave generating, etc., are included.
