Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To attain character display at an optimum position by differentiating a position at which a character signal for screen display is superimposed on a picture signal in response to 1st and 2nd aspect ratios. CONSTITUTION:A position at which a character signal for screen display is superimposed on a picture signal is differentiated in response to 1st and 2nd aspect ratios by the control of a central controller. That is, in the case of the NTSC mode, a channel number a1 is displayed on the corner of the upper right of the screen while a prescribed horizontal line is shifted from the standard position and not located on the horizontal line whose upper part is cut. Moreover, in the case of the NTSC 2 mode, a prescribed picture element is shifted to the left from the standard position and a channel number a2 is displayed to the corner of the upper right of the video display section and not located to a video non display section. Furthermore, in the case of the NTSC 3 mode, the picture element is not shifted from the standard position and a channel number a3 is displayed on the corner of the upper right of the screen. Thus, the channel number is displayed at the optimum position respectively.
