Method for producing functional organic molecule-doped amorphous silica
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain the functional org. molecule-doped amorphous silica capable of stably retaining a functional org. polymer by using amorphous silica as a retainer for a functional org. molecule and adding a functional org. molecule and a surfactant when a silicon alkoxide is hydrolyzed. CONSTITUTION:Water and alcohol are added to a silicon alkoxide shown by the general formula Si(OR)4 (R is an alkyl group) to obtain a liq. mixture, and the mixture is hydrolyzed and dehydration-condensed to synthesize amor phous silica. In this case, a functional org. molecule and a surfactant are added to the mixture during the hydrolysis. An org. molecule having any of the non- linear optical effect, photochromism, laser oscillation, etc., is appropriately used as the functional org. molecule. When acid is added in hydrolysis, the hydrolysis reaction is accelerated, the org. molecule is dispersedly added to the amorphous silica, and the synthesized amorphous silica is favorably stabi lized.
