Vehicle structure filled with urethane foam
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To ensure and simplify filling of a center pillar with urethane foam so as to promote improved stiffness by making an air vent hole which communicates the respective insides of a center pillar and a side roof rail with the jointed part of them. CONSTITUTION:The upper end part of a closed section box type center pillar 1 consisting of an inner 2 and an outer 4 is connected with a closed section box type side roof rail 5 consisting of an inner 6 and an outer 8 in the same way as the center pillar. The upper part above a partition member 9 inside the center pillar 1 is filled with urethane foam 10 to improve stiffness, whereas an air vent hole which communicates the respective insides of the center pillar 1 and the side roof rail 5 is drilled in the jointed part between them. It is thus possible to make extra urethane foam 10' together with air go into the side roof rail 5 through the air vent hole 15 when the inside of the center pillar 1 is filled with urethane foam.
