Power steering device for outboard engine
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To provide possibility of operating separately from turning the steering wheel by connecting an operational device, which emits various electric signals similar to the steering load signal given from a torque sensor, with a calculation control means of an assist power unit in such a way as capable of being switched over to the torque sensor. CONSTITUTION:When a steering wheel is turned, the body 12 of this outboard engine concerned is steered by a manual steering device 21 through a link mechanism 8. This operation load is sensed by a torque sensor 23 of an assist power unit 22 and fed to a calculation control means 28, where a steering torque signal to reduce the steering load according to a steering load sensing signal is determined, and the steering assist force to reduce the steering load is given to the link mechanism 8. Thus the steering load is reduced. If on the other hand an operational device 29 is switched into connection with the calculation control means 28 by means of changing-over of a switcher 30, various electric signals similar to the steering load signal given from the torque sensor 23 is fed to the calculation control means 28, and the steering assist force to reduce the steering load is given to the link mechanism 8. Thus steering is carried out.
