Styrenic copolymer

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain the subject polymer for liquid crystal display, etc., having specific weight-average molecular weight and blue fluorescent color comprising styrenic repeating unit mainly having syndiotactic structure and 9-vinyl anthracene repeating unit. CONSTITUTION:A styrenic monomer expressed by formula I (R is H, halogen or 1-20C hydrocarbon group; m is integer of 1-3) is copolymerized with 9- vinylanthracene expressed by formula II in toluene and in the presence of aluminoxane and cyclopentadienyltitanium trichloride at a temperature of 50 deg.C to afford the aimed copolymer composed of 95-5mol% styrenic repeating unit expressed by formula III and 5-95mol% 9-vinylanthracene repeating unit expressed by formula IV having 5000-1000000 weight-average molecular weight with mainly syndiotactic configulation of stereoregularity of styrenic repeating chain unit.
