Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To stabilize the relative frequencies of optical FSK signals of many channels by using an optical filter which varies in transmissivity periodically with the frequency of incident light as an optical discriminator where points having the same discrimination characteristics appear periodically about the incidence frequency. CONSTITUTION:This device is equipped with a channel selecting filter 14 as a selecting means which selects the sent optical FSK-modulated signal of one of transmission lasers LD1 - LDn and the optical discriminator 16 as the light filter which inputs the output light of the channel selecting filter 14, and varies in transmissivity with the frequency of the incident light at a period equal to the center frequency interval of the optical FSK-modulated signal. A channel to be stabilized can be switched at high speed by using the frequency selecting filter without using a laser diode for sweeping, and the limit of the number of channels is relaxed. Consequently the center frequency intervals of the optical FSK-modulated signal which has, for example, a 600Mb/s transmission bit rate, 100Hz channel intervals, and >=100 channels are stabilized by one device.
