Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To unit and miniaturize a reader and to shorten time required for repetitive usage by providing an after image erasing means capable of irradiating light toward the plane of a radiation picture information converting panel from its end side. CONSTITUTION:The radiation picture information converting panel 2 records a radiation picture information of a subject to be photographed M as a latent image by irradiating it with radiation R from an X ray generating source after it transmits the subject. An excitation reading means 30 reading the radiation picture information recorded on the radiation picture information converting panel 2 on its outgoing (descending) and incoming (ascending) routes is mounted on a moving body 3. After the excitation reading means 30 reads the radiation picture information the after image erasing means 14 operates when the moving body reaches a turning point or its initial position. Namely, a light source 14a is turned on to transmit the light through a photoconductive body 14, and the light irradiates the entire plane of the panel to erase the after image. Thus, the reader can be united and miniaturized, and moreover time required for repetitive usage can be shortened.
