Polyurethane polymer composition and production thereof

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To provide the subject composition having excellent breaking elongation and dyeability, etc., and suitable for coatings, adhesives, flooring materials, etc., by reacting a polyisocyanate with a specific polyalkylene ether diol and an active hydrogen-containing compound. CONSTITUTION:(i) Tetrahydrofuran, (ii) neopentyl glycol and (iii) 3-methyl-1,5- pentanediol are reacted in a ratio of the components (i+iii)/(ii+iii) of 0.08-0.85 to form (A) a polyalkylene ether diol having a mol. wt. of 300-30000 and having structure units of formulas I, II and III. (A) The component, (B) an organic polyisocyanate compound (e.g., 2,4-tolylene diisocyanate) and (C) an active hydrogen-containing compound (e.g., ethylenediamine) reactive with the isocyanate group are reacted by an one shot polymerization method to provide the objective composition.
