Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To attain an image pickup of an optional area of a film by turning a film picture with a direction of a recorded image and varying the indication direction of the movement given externally in the turning state at read and the moving direction of the driving means. CONSTITUTION:A picture formed on a film 2 is usually long laterally but there is a case of a picture longer longitudinally. If the film picture is picked up as it is and outputted, the video image is tilted by 90 deg. on the television screen. In such case, the operator gives a rotation command from a command input section 20 and the picture data stored in a picture memory 14 is read while being rotated by 90 deg.. That is, the X axis direction of the memory address signal applied from a memory control circuit 15 to the picture memory 14 is replaced into the Y axis direction. As a result, the picture data from the memory 14 is read while being rotated by 90 deg. in comparison with the written state. Thus, the longitudinal and lateral directions are reproduced in the normal state on the television screen and the optional area of the film is picked up without notifying the relation of the longitudinal and lateral positions.
