Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent an electrode terminal from corroding electrically by extending and forming part of a seal material interposed between the peripheral parts of 1st and 2nd substrates to the section between the segment terminal and common terminal at one side end of the 2nd substrate. CONSTITUTION:The top surface of a lower glass substrate 3 where segment electrodes and electrode terminals 5 and 6 are formed is coated with the seal material 4 made of epoxy resin, etc. In such a coating process, part of the seal material 4 is extended to the section between the segment terminal 5 and common terminal 6 at one side end of the lower glass substrate 3. This seal material extended part 4a is cured in a pressure applying and heating process after an upper glass substrate 1 is superposed as well as the seal material 4. Thus, the seal material extended part 4a prevents the segment terminal 5 and common terminal 6 from short-circuiting and then good results as to the manufacture cost and yield are obtained.
