Carpet backing composition

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To provide the subject composition containing a specific copolymer latex and a specific amount of an alkylene oxide adduct of an alkylphenol formalin condensate and having excellent blister resistance and aging stability. CONSTITUTION:The objective carpet backing composition can be produced by compounding (A) a copolymer latex having a glass transition point of 30 deg. to -55 deg.C and an average particle diameter of 700-3,000Angstrom and produced by the emulsion polymerization of (A1) 25-70wt.% of a monomer selected from aliphatic conjugated diene monomer (e.g., 1,3-butadiene), an acrylic acid ester having 2-10C alkyl group and a methacrylic acid ester having 6-14C alkyl group, (A2) 0.3-8wt.% of an ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer and (A3) 20-74.7wt.% of other monomer copolymerizable with the monomers A1 and A2 (e.g., aromatic vinyl compound) with (B) 0.03-2.5wt.% (based on 100 pts.wt. of the solid component of the component A) of an alkylene oxide adduct of an alkylphenol formalin condensate and (C) an inorganic filler.
