Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To improve power factor, and to lower higher harmonics by installing a switch conducting when the currents of an inductance are zero in parallel with the inductance. CONSTITUTION:A SW1 represents a switch conducting when the currents of an inductance L are zero and is composed of a semiconductor switch, etc., and is connected in parallel with the inductance L through a diode D1 for preventing reverse currents. K represents a current detector and detects currents flowing through the inductance L, and turns on the switch SW1 discharging the residual energy of the inductance L when the currents of the inductance L zero. Consequently, resonance currents ico by the residual energy of the inductance L as not flow, and the input current waveform of the inductance L can be brought extremely near to sonusoidal waveform. Accordingly, a power factor is improved sufficiently, and higher harmonics can be lowered.
