Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To synthetically improve various performances of fuel consumption and rotary limit or the like by reducing the opening of a throttle value while expanding the overlapped opening of intake and exhaust valves so as to decrease compression ratio of an engine when it is started. CONSTITUTION:Opening of a throttle valve, interposed in an intake passage 2 of a swirl chamber type Diesel engine 1, is controlled by a means 13. While overlapping opening of intake and exhaust valves in the engine 1 is controlled by a means 14. Further each means 13, 14 is driven and controlled respectively by a means 15. That is, the means 15, being based on each detection signal from an engine speed sensor 8 and a water temperature sensor 9, drives to control a fuel injection pump 4. Being based on an on-signal of a starter switch 12, the engine 1, when it is started, is decreased in the throttle valve opening while spread in the valve overlapping opening. Thus by decreasing compression ratio of the engine 1, fuel consumption or the like is improved while the weight of a motion part and its friction loss are reduced.
