Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To raise the temp. of an electrolytic soln. in an electrolytic cell and to increase the efficiency of electric power for electrolysis in main electrodes by arranging a pair of auxiliary electrodes near the bottom of the cell besides the main electrodes and supplying AC to the auxiliary electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A pair of metal electrodes 2, 3 are obliquely arranged near the bottom of an electrolytic cell 1 provided with main electrodes 4, 5 on both sides of a diaphragm 6 at a proper interval between each of the electrodes 2, 3 and the diaphragm 6 and AC is supplied to the electrodes 2, 3 through lead wires 9, 10 to raise the temp. of an electrolytic soln. by Joule heat. The ionic conduction speed of the main electrodes 4, 5 is increased, overvoltage drops and current density rises, so the efficiency of electric power for electrolysis is increased.
