Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To enable accurate judgment of a point where a fine partial discharge occurs by detecting a leakage magnetic flux generated on the outer circumference of a shielding body by a discharge current flowing trough the shielding body of a test cable. CONSTITUTION:First, a test voltage is applied between a center conductor 2 and an external conductor of a test cable 1 through a power source transformer 10. As the test voltage is raised, with a defect existing inside an insulating body of the test cable 1, a partial discharge is started on the spot and detected by a partial discharge pulse detector 17. Then, an armour of the test cable 1 is removed to expose a semiconductor layer 1a formed on the outer circumference of the insulating body of the test cable 1. A conducting tape 21 is gap wound on the outer circumference of the semiconductor layer 1a and the test cable 1 is housed in a shielding case 19. Moreover, an antenna coil 20 for detecting partial discharges is arranged surrounding the test cable 1 and moved in a direction of the arrow 22 to detect a position of a partial discharge.
