Viterbi decoder

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To vary a generation polynomial and to select an optimum transmission cone by providing a selector using an output signal of an internal coder so as to output a branch metric selectively and giving the selected result to an adder. CONSTITUTION:A reception code with a dummy bit according to an erasure pattern forming a punctured code inserted thereto is inputted to a branch metric calculation circuit 1 and a branch metric is calculated. An internal coder 7 receives a generation polynomial according to the generation polynomial set to the sender side and a node number of the internal state transition and outputs a control signal controlling a selector 8. When ACS circuit sections of a number corresponding to a restricted length K of a convolution code are provided, since the ACS circuit section corresponding to the node number is formed, the node number is inputted respectively as a fixed value. Moreover, when the ACS circuit section is used in time division, the branch metric is selected sequentially and fed to an adder 4.
