Cover for machine tool
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To maintain machining precision by constituting an expansion and contraction mechanism free to move in a two-axis direction within the same plane with a single plane and positioning the cover between the spindle shift mechanism of a main spindle or a tool rest and a machining work site. CONSTITUTION:When a rotary tool rest 21 moves up and down, lower slide covers 57 and 59 to be engaged with a turret side cover 45 mounted to a tool rest proper 19 are lifted in turn, thereby being overlaid on a turret cover 53 at an upper part. Or, each of slide covers 57, 59 and 61 at a lower part are overlaid thereon and the upper slide cover slidably moves down. Also, when the rotary tool rest 21 moves right and left, cover supports 39 and 41 move together and fixed side covers 67 and 69 also move. Consequently, as a machining work site and a spindle shift mechanism part are separated from each other, a chip or the splash of cutting oil does not enter the side of the spindle shift mechanism, even when the rotary tool rest 21 moves. According to the aforesaid construction, it is possible to protect each slide surface of a machine tool from abrasion and rusting, and to maintain machining precision and product accuracy.
