Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a cathode-ray tube with the electrification preventive function and the reflection preventive function by coating a specific alcohol solution on the front surface of a panel to form a transparent conducting film and coating a solution with a specific value on it to form a reflection preventive film. CONSTITUTION:The front surface of the panel 2 of a cathode-ray tube 1 is cleaned. One or more kinds of SnO2 and In2O3 with conductivity by themselves and an alcohol solution containing Si(OR)4, where R is an alkyl group, are coated on it to form a transparent conducting film 5. An alcohol solution of Si(OR)4 is coated and sintered to have fixed luster, thereby a firm reflection preventing film 6 with fine irregularities of SiO2 is formed. The fine irregular film of the film 6 is set within the range of the maximum height of 0.1-1mum, the ten-point average roughness of 0.05-0.5mum specified by the Japanese Industrial Standard. The mechanically strong film with the excellent electrification preventive function and reflection preventive function can be obtained.
