Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To reduce the flocculation of toner and an irregularity in the quantity of electrostatic charging of toner which exert adverse influence upon image formation by installing at least one developing intermediate body between a sleeve for toner conveyance and a latent image carrier, and generating a potential difference between the sleeve and developing intermediate body. CONSTITUTION:When the potential difference is generated with the columnar nonmagnetic developing intermediate body 4 arranged between the sleeve 1 and a photosensitive drum 5 as the latent image carrier, toner 6 moves to the developing intermediate body 4. Namely, toner particles 6 which are charged positively and negatively are present on the sleeve 1, but the potential difference is generated between the sleeve 1 and developing intermediate body 4 to move only toner of one polarity to the developing intermediate body 4. Consequently, the absence on a doctor blade 3 which is caused by the clogging in a doctor gap of gap length between the sleeve 1 and the doctor blade as a toner conveyance amount control member by the flocculation of toner is eliminated. Consequently, the toner used for development is conveyed to a development position without flocculating and an image of high density having no print blur is formed.
