Liquid crystal display device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain the liquid crystal display device which is compact and has good efficiency by forming a light scattering material on a light transparent plate or light scattering and reflecting plate more densely toward the side further from a light source part. CONSTITUTION:The light scattering material 12 is disposed to a circular rod 7 on the side approximately opposite to the side facing the light transparent plate 2 to an approximately wedge shape in the longitudinal direction with the end part of the light source part 4 as a start point, i.e. in such a manner that the concn. thereof is gradually increased toward the side further from the light source part 4. The similar light scattering material 12 is formed on the rear face (the surface on the side opposite to the surface in proximity to a liquid crystal panel) of the light transparent plate 2 in such a manner that the concn. thereof is increased toward the side further from a light incident part. The circular rod 7 is thereby enabled to emit the exit light having the extremely uniform luminous intensity distribution in the longitudinal direction to the light transparent plate and to emit the exit light likewise having the uniform distribution to the liquid crystal panel 1 side in the light transparent plate 2. The entire part of the device is constituted extremely compact.
