Battery checking apparatus
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To perform accurate measurement, by obtaining the correspondence between the state of a battery and the ratio between the specific gravities of electrolytes from the parameters of discharge current, voltage or internal resistance at the time of the discharge of the battery, and performing correction with the calibrated specific gravity value obtained by the comparison with a reference specific gravity value. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 7 is provided in the title apparatus. The standard characteristic curve of the voltage of a battery is stored in the microcomputer 7. A current detector 6, a voltage detector 10 and a specific gravity sensor 4 which detects the specific gravity of electrolyte are connected. When the battery 1 is discharged at the specified current, a voltage VB is measured, and a specific gravity SB is measured at the same time. A standard specific gravity SA of the battery is obtained at the battery voltage VB as the standard characteristic. A specific-gravity correcting value DELTAS=SA-SB is obtained with a specific gravity correcting means 72. After a specified time, the specific gravity calibrating value DELTAS is added to a specific value Sr obtained with the sensor 4, and a true specific gravity Sr' is obtained. Thus the accurate state of the battery 1 can be detected all the time.
