Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To shorten the exchanging work time of a magnetic tape cartridge storing medium by providing an accessor exclusively used for executing the exchanging operation of the magnetic tape cartridge storing medium. CONSTITUTION:When a magnetic tape recording and reproducing device 104 during operation finishes a processing, an accessor 109 is controlled by an accessor controller 108 so that a magnetic tape cartridge for which the processing is finished can be temporarily stored in an ejecting cell 116. Next, the accessor 109 is controlled by the device 108 so that the cartridge which is next used can be removed from a stand-by cell 114. Then, the accessor 109 is controlled by a cartridge grasping part 111 so that the cartridge to be removed from the cell 114 can be mounted to the device 104. After that, the cartridge to be temporarily stored in the cell 116 is moved to a cartridge receiving box 107 by the accessor 109 and received to the receiving cell of the receiving boxy 107 to be instructed by the device 108.
