Plane-shaped lighting device and usage thereof
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To reduce illuminance irregularities and obtain bright plane-shaped lighting by removing part of the clad section of multiple optical fibers facing a light reflecting plate arranged on one side of a plane-shaped optical fiber train and providing a light scattering section. CONSTITUTION:Part of the clad 2 of an optical fiber 1 is removed along the longitudinal direction, a core 3 is exposed, a light scattering face 10 is formed on the surface of this core portion. Multiple optical fibers are arranged and fixed in a plane shape on a light reflecting plate 5, with both end faces vertical to optical axes properly set and the optical axes closely aligned. The light scattered by the light scattering face 10 is reflected on the boundary between the core 3 and the clad 2 and goes to the outside through the clad from the opposite side to the scattering face. The light directly going to the outside of the optical fiber from the light scattering section is reflected by the light reflecting plate and is returned and functions as the lighting light. Plane-shaped lighting with little illuminance irregularities can be obtained at a low cost.
