Electroviscous fluid composition

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To increase the aging stability of an electroviscous fluid compsn. by dispersing compd. particles obtd. by forming a polymer of a specified silicon compd. or a di- to decamer thereof on the surfaces of ionic polymer particles in an insulating dispersion medium. CONSTITUTION:A condensation reaction product of a silicon compd. represented by formula I [where each R is optionally substd. alkyl, aryl or unsatd. aliphat. residue, (m) R's may be different from each ether, each X is alkoxy, acyloxy, H, halogen or hydroxyl, (4-m) X's may be different from each other and m is 0, 1, 2 or 3] and/or a di- to decamer thereof is formed on the surfaces of ionic polymer particles. The resulting compd. particles are dispersed in an insulating dispersion medium to prepare an electroviscous fluid compsn.
