Guide wire for catheter
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To provide high flexibility and high recoverability and to easily insert the title guide wire in a Seldinger needle, by forming the leading end part of a core metal from a shape memory alloy having specific martensite inverse transformation start temp. while forming the leading end part of a coil spring from an ultra-elastic metal. CONSTITUTION:A leading end core metal 3 is formed of a shape memory alloy having martensite inverse transformation start temp. of 0-40 deg.C and transformed into a curved state at temp. higher than said temp. by a required value so as to form the leading end part of a guide wire 1 into a curved shape as a whole. The coil spring 4 covering the leading end part core metal 3 is formed of an ultra-elastic alloy and this alloy is one having a wide elastic region generating no plastic deformation even when tensile strain is about 8% and, for example, the ultra-elastic material such as an Ni-Ti alloy, a Cu-Al-Ni alloy or a Cu-Zn-Al alloy is suitable and the leading end thereof has a semispherical leading end part 5.
