Azo compound, colored composition, ink composition, and ink jet recording method

Abstract

Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new compound which has absorption characteristics excellent in color reproducibility as a coloring matter of one of three primary colors, and has sufficient fastnesses to light, heat, moisture, and an oxidizing gas in the environment, an ink composition which gives a material capable of forming a color image excellent in color hue and fastness, and various colored compositions such as an ink for ink jet recording. SOLUTION: This azo compound is represented by general formula 1 (wherein Z is a group of atoms, necessary for forming a heterocyclic ring with X and Y; X is N, O or C; Y is N, O, S or C; A1 and A2 are each C, or one of them is N, provided that the substituent for A2 is not a nitro group; and R1 to R4 are each H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, alkenyl, aryl, a heterocyclic ring group, sulfonyl, acyl, carboxy, or carbamoyl, provided that both R1 and R2 are not H and that both R3 and R4 are not H).
