Abstract
Abstract A latch mechanism (30) is provided for releasably securing a module (10) within a rack system adapted to slidably receive said module. The latch mechanism includes a first latch part (18) mounted on said module adapted to couple with a second latch part (26,27) incorporated in said rack system. Actuating means (15,16) are provided for decoupling said first latch part from said second latch part, and release means (23,24,25) for urging said module out of said rack system on decoupling said first and second parts. .

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim
76 words
A latch mechanism for releasably securing a module within a rack system adapted to slidably receive said module, said latch mechanism 5 including a first latch part mounted on said module adapted to couple with a second latch part incorporated in said rack system, actuating means for decoupling said first latch part from said second latch part, and release means for urging said module out of said rack system on decoupling said first and second parts.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
54 words
A latch mechanism as claimed in Claim 1 wherein said release means comprises one or more coaxial compression springs which are compressed when the module is slidably inserted in the rack system and which extend to urge the module out of the rack system when said first and second latch parts 15 are decoupled.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
57 words
A latch mechanism as claimed in Claim 1 or 2 said actuating means comprises a bar running from the rear of the module, where the bar engages said first latch part, to the front of the module where the bar is operable to 20 move the first latch part and decouple said first and second latch parts.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
46 words
A latch mechanism as claimed in any previous claim wherein the module comprises a housing for an electronic device, said device including a first electrical connector cooperable with a second electrical connector 25 located within the rack system to connect the device to the rack system.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
13 words
A latch mechanism substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
13 words
A latch mechanism substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
