Coating with aluminum vapors
Abstract
Abstract A refractory metal, refractory oxide or a carbonaceous material such as graphite is coated with boron nitride by applying a paste of boron nitride in ethyl silicate and water, drying and fixing the coated base at 1,300 DEG C. in vacuum.ALSO:In a vapour deposition process of coating a moving substrate with aluminium, the aluminium is supported in a refractory container which has a protective surface of boron nitride. The refractory container is a refractory metal, a refractory oxide or graphite which has a vapour pressure less than 0,1 micron Hg absolute at 1300 DEG C. to 1350 DEG C. The boron nitride surface is applied as a powder or as a paste in ethyl silicate and water which is dried and fired at 1300 DEG C in vacuum. Paper and plastic films are given as examples of the moving substrate.ALSO:A refractory support for aluminium in a vapour deposition process comprises a refractory metal, refractory oxide or graphite coated with boron nitride. The boron nitride is applied to the base as a powder or as a paste in ethyl silicate and water and dried and fired at 1300 DEG C. in vacuum.
