Abstract
Abstract 664,312. Catheters. RUSCH, W., (trading as RUSCH [Firm of]). Sept. 3, 1949 [Aug. 15, 1949], No. 22895/49. Class 81 (ii). In a balloon catheter two separately produced tubes are joined together to form the appliance. In one form described a narrow bore air tube 2 is set in a groove in the catheter tube 1 and is retained by a rubber ring 5 at one end and by a cylindrical sleeve 6, forming the balloon, at the other end. After assembly the whole is dipped in rubber to provide a coating 7 which seals the balloon and cements the two tubes together. If desired two diametrically placed inflation tubes may be provided to give the catheter a flattened form.
