Improvements in or relating to the manufacture of wiring circuits such as for radio receivers
Abstract
Abstract 649,254. Printed circuits; couplings. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Aug. 15, 1947, No. 22680. [Classes 36 and 38 (i)] In a wiring circuit for radio receivers or the like, an insulating support is provided with metallic connecting elements secured thereto and leads or components are then soldered to the metallic connecting elements after which a metallic wiring pattern is applied over the soldered connections or metallic connecting elements to provide electrical continuity between the wiring pattern and the connections. In this way the wiring pattern is connected to the elements without damage due to the heat from the soldering iron. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a thin sheet of insulating material 1 is provided with a suitable array of holes for the construction of a valve holder, the sockets 3 passing through the panel 1 and having tags 4 which are passed through apertures 5 and soldered with the lead to an eyelet 6 secured to the panel. Leads and components such as condensers and resistances can be connected by soldering to the eyelets, Figs. 3 and 5 (not shown), rivets, Fig. 4 (not shown), or to tags secured to the panel by rivets, Fig. 6 (not shown). After all soldering operations are completed, the side of the panel may be shot blasted and metal is sprayed through a stencil to provide a wiring pattern 12.
