Improvements in or relating to transverse couplings for bogies of rail vehicles
Abstract
Abstract 611,237. Transverse couplings for railway vehicle bogies. SCHWEIZERISCHE LOKOMOTIV-UND MASCHINENFABRIK. Feb. 28, 1946, No. 6296. Convention date, Feb. 28, 1945, [Class 103 (vi)] A transverse coupling 6-7, between the ends of bogies on a railway vehicle provides a resilient connection between the vertices of two triangular frames 2 hinged to horizontal trunnions 4 mounted on the adjacent ends of the bogies 1. End 6 of the coupling has fixed to it a rod 13, the play of which is limited by set collars 14 bearing against plates 10, compressing helical springs 11 and 12, and held in place between the faces of bell-shaped member 3 joined to the end 7 of the coupling. The springs 11 and 12 may be initially tensioned.
