Improvements in apparatus for determining the dielectric properties of granular or powdery materials
Abstract
Abstract 597,800. Feeding materials from hoppers. MARCONI INSTRUMENTS, Ltd., and BROCKELSBY, C. F. Aug. 27, 1945, No. 22010. [Class 78(i)] [Also in Groups XXXVI and XXXVIII] Powdered or granular material is fed from a hopper-H on to a pivotal deflector vane V which diverts a constant flow into and through. a condenser-container C for the purpose of measuring the dielectric constant and hence the moisture content of the material. The condenser is carried by a beam B fulcrumed at F and counterpoised by a weight W, spring, electromagnet or other means provided with damping means D such as a dashpot or eddy-current-brake. Any deviation of the average material mass in the condenser rocks the deflector vane V through an adjustable link L and arm A in the corrective sense to maintain constant the flow or time average of the material mass in the condenser. Specifications 555,211 and 567,161, [both in Group XXXVI], are referred to.
