Abstract
Abstract 574,591. Gas washers. STURTEVANT ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and HARRIS, C. H. Jan. 29, 1944, Nos. 1714 and 10999. [Class 55 (ii)] Apparatus for removing dust &c.from air comprises a vessel 3 with a coned base 13 to which water is supplied from a float valve tank 21, and an air inlet conduit 1 terminating about 2“ in. above the water surface. Coned discs 5 ... 8 are mounted alternately on the air conduit and an inner wall 4 forming a constriction above the air conduit opening, and above these a curved eliminator baffle 9 traps water carried by the air which is withdrawn at the top of the vessel by a fan 10. Owing to its initial velocity the air is caused to flow into the water and entrain it as foam or spray which is driven .on to the baffles and falls therefrom as curtains of rain.
