Improvements in and relating to luminous electric discharge devices
Abstract
Abstract 525,943. Lamp-caps. SOC. ANON. POUR LES APPLICATIONS DE L'ELECTRICITE ET DES GAZ RARES ETABLISSEMENTS CLAUDE-PAZ ET SILVA. March 3, 1939, No. 7056. Convention date. May 19, 1938. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XL] A gas and/or vapour filled luminous electric discharge device comprises a centrally arranged tube which constitutes a gas reservoir and supports a second tube, or assembly of tubes of smaller diameter than the first tube, arranged round it, one end of the second tube or tubes being joined to an axial extension of the first tube, and an electrode being arranged at each of the remaining ends of the tubes. In the form shown, a helically coiled glass tube 1 is joined at its upper end 3 to an axial extension 6 of the central tube 4. The extension 6 engages a recess 8 of the outer envelope 7 through a sleeve 9 of semiresilient material, such as cork. An apertured closure member 10 and a mass of plastic material 11 receive the ends of tubes containing the electrodes 2, 5. The sleeve 12 has a dependent rain-deflecting flange 13. The device is mounted, by means of a pin 14, in a holder which may be on a narrow casing which contains the supply transformer.
