Improvements in and relating to universal or swivelling joints for suction hoses or similar tubular conduits or connection members for vacuum cleaners
Abstract
Abstract 511,751. Pipe couplings. AKTIESELSKABET FISKER & NIELSEN, and FISKER, P. A. Jan. 6, 1939, No. 546. [Class 99(i)] The spherical or flanged end 7 of a pipe 5 engages within a rubber or like resilient socket or sleeve 4, the mouth of the socket being expanded to admit the ball. A spring ring 10 is placed in a groove 11 round the mouth of the socket to prevent withdrawal of the ball, the mouth still being wide enough to allow free swivelling of the pipe 5. A metal or rubber covering 18 may be added. Two pipes may be joined by the sleeve 4, Fig. 4, the sleeve being flared at each end 13 to provide the groove for ring 10. A central ring 19 may be provided. The socket may carry means for connecting it to a vacuum cleaner casing such as by a bayonet type joint.
